The Past Indefinite and Past Continuous Tense 一般過去時和過去進行時

　　1. 一般過去時表示在確定的過去時間里所發(fā)生的動作或存在的狀態(tài)，也可表示在過去一段時間內(nèi)，經(jīng)常性或習慣性的動作。When I was a child, I often played football in the street.

　　2. 過去進行時表示過去某時正在進行的狀態(tài)或動作。過去進行時的主要用法是描述一件事發(fā)生的背景；一個長動作發(fā)生的時候，另一個短動作發(fā)生。As he was reading the newspaper, Granny fell asleep在他看報紙時，奶奶睡著了。

　　3. 應(yīng)特別注意兩個時態(tài)的區(qū)別：They watched the train until it disappeared. (一般過去時表示watch動作已結(jié)束) She was writing a book about China last year but I dont know whether she has finished it. 過去進行時不表示write動作已結(jié)束) I dont think Jim saw me; he was just staring into space. (過去進行時表示過去某時正在進行的狀態(tài)或動作)
